Robert Clark, of Waterbury, faces charges of first-degree assault, breach of peace, first-degree threatening, two counts of risk of injury to a child, and interfering with an officer in connection with the reported attack Monday morning, March 10, police said.
Officers responded around 9 a.m. to reports of a disturbance at a home on Rose Street in Waterbury. Upon arrival, they found a 25-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital.
She remains in serious but stable condition, Waterbury police Lt. Ryan Bessette said.
Police believe Clark stabbed the woman before leaping from the window in an attempt to evade arrest. However, his escape failed—he landed in the hospital, where he remained as of Monday afternoon, Bessette said.
He will be arraigned upon his release.
The Department of Children and Families is caring for the children who were inside the home during the alleged attack.
